About

Welcome to High Manor Press

High Manor Press began humbly as Kingfisher Publishing, a solo venture helmed by Terrance Crane in the basement of a pawnshop in Finnigan, Rhode Island. Back then, the press was devoted to pulp novels, reprints of forgotten classics, and collections of weird fiction. Despite its charm, Kingfisher Publishing never quite took flight, and after twenty years, Mr. Crane shuttered the operation.

But the advent of print-on-demand technology changed everything. The logistical nightmares of traditional publishing could now be outsourced to platforms like Amazon, breathing new life into the possibilities of independent presses.

It was during this pivotal time that Terrance Crane’s great-uncle, Sebastien Crane, passed away. As the only son of Sebastien’s younger brother, Terrance inherited an estate unlike any other: a sprawling mansion in western Massachusetts known simply as The High Manor. With its eerie grandeur and storied history, the manor became the perfect headquarters for his new publishing house, aptly named High Manor Press.

Yet, what Terrance discovered within the walls of the manor would change him—and the course of his life—forever.

The High Manor is no ordinary estate. Completely self-sufficient with its own power, water, and sewage systems, the manor is also a museum of the strange and the arcane. Its vast library houses esoteric knowledge and occult volumes from authors both famous and forgotten—some of whom have no record of ever existing. The halls are filled with relics and artifacts collected from around the world, each carrying its own unnerving history.

Since inheriting the manor, Mr. Crane has become increasingly reclusive, spending months poring over dusty manuscripts and then disappearing on expeditions to add to his great-uncle’s collections.

In his absence, the responsibility of High Manor Press has fallen to me, Simon Graeme. I am a horror author, educator, and editor, tasked with transforming this chaos into a thriving publishing company.

While I spend much of my time at the manor, I do not live there. It is, after all, a business—and a business must be run, no matter how strange or unnerving the manor’s influence can be. High Manor Press specializes in horror, dark fiction, and the supernatural. Alongside publishing my own works, I’ve begun curating anthologies to showcase rising stars in the genre.
